SUMMER CAMP, 2016!

Bay Leaf Kitchen summer camps teach hands-on cooking basics with a focus on fresh and healthy ingredients. Every week-long session includes an overnight farm trip where we will harvest vegetables, cook, play in the dirt and camp out at a local farm. Each session offers unique programming, making Bay Leaf Kitchen Camp ideal for kids who want to do multiple sessions. While each camp differs in activities and guests, every session of Bay Leaf Kitchen Summer Camp offers experiences rooted in community, sustainability and play!

Bay Leaf Kitchen camp also focuses on fun, physical activity to teach campers that a balanced lifestyle that pairs good food and exercise will make for a healthy life!  Campers will have the opportunity to work with Bay Area fitness experts (from Yoga to core strength building) and learn easy, fun ways to bring simple fitness into their everyday lives.  

Hours: 9 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday, plus the Thursday night camp-out sleepover
Campers Ages: 8 to 12
Jr. Counselors In Training, Summer Ages: 13 - 15
Group Size: Limited to 24 campers & 4 Jr. Counselors In Training
Cost: The camper rate is $750 ($650 early bird registration rate - ending March 31st, 2016) and the Jr. Chef Helpers Summer rate is $550 ($450 early bird registration - ending March 31st, 2016). Cost includes transportation to farm, snacks, lunch and extra samples to take home for the whole week! Financial aid is available to those in need.

Bay Leaf Kitchen offers four Jr. CIT slots, per session, to children ages 13 - 15. This innovative program combines cooking with peer mentorship during our week-long camp sessions. Jr. CITs will be learning how to be leaders and teachers while expanding their culinary knowledge in a fun and hands-on way.

july 25th - 29th: MONDAY - WEDNESDAY CLASSES IN ABUNDANCE COMMUNITY GARDEN WITH AN OVERNIGHT AT EATWELL FARM 

TEEN CAMP 

AUGUST 1st - 5TH: San francisco-BAsed Advanced cooking camp with Monday - Wednesday cooking classes and overnight on a farm for Teens, ages 13 - 15 (entering 7th, 8th and 9th grades).

 

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can my child’s dietary restrictions/vegetarian/food allergies be accommodated? Yes, Bay Leaf Kitchen can accommodate most camper’s dietary restrictions. If you have a specific question about this, please email us info@bayleafkitchen.org

What is the counselor-to-camper ratio? During camp there will be 1 counselor and 1 Jr. Chef Helper for every 6 campers.

Do I need to provide a tent or other camping equipment for the overnight farm trip? No your camper will not need to bring their own tent. For the overnight camping trip your child will need his or her own sleeping bag, clothes and personal items. One month before camp Bay Leaf Kitchen will send out a more detailed packing list.  

What is Bay Leaf Kitchen's background/experience? The Bay Leaf Kitchen team have an extensive background in camping, cooking, teaching and education management, for a detail history please check out Bay Leaf Kitchen’s Our Story page.

What kind of knives or other equipment will they be using? Campers will be using age appropriate kitchen equipment including safe knives, stoves, ovens, and mixers with guidance and supervision of Bay Leaf Kitchen safe.

What is your cancellation policy? Our refund policy is designed to discourage last minute cancellations and to help families on the waiting list. The fee is refundable (minus $50.00) for requests received in writing, via e-mail, to info@bayleafkitchen.org before May 15th, 2016. After May 15th, there is no refund unless the space can be filled by another camper. During camp, there is no refund for camper illness, missed days, vacations, or dismissal from the program. Classes may be subject to change.
